Making disciples together in the everyday stuff of 5th and 6th grade student life.
We believe that 5th and 6th graders are in a unique position to be discipled and disciple others; we want to create space for that. Doxa 5/6 exists to encourage students to live life with Jesus, life in community, and life on mission.
The home is the first environment where students will learn the affection of God the Father and their identity as children of God. This is done through parents/guardians modeling their own Gospel Identity to their students and inviting them into worshipping Jesus through regular rhythms of life.
Doxa 5/6 meets weekly during Doxa’s 11am Sunday Gathering for a time of community, games, teaching, and DNA groups. It’s an opportunity for 5th and 6th graders to have a great time and grow in their faith while developing friendships with peers who are following Jesus.
DNA (Discover, Nurture, Act) groups are the heartbeat of Doxa 5/6. In this weekly, environment, students connect in gender and age specific groups to discover the truth about Jesus, nurture matters of the heart, and act on God’s word. Each DNA group meets during the 11am Doxa 5/6 Gathering.
Students are encouraged to participate in the life of their parents’ Missional Community. We believe every Missional Community bears the identity of Family. Therefore, kids and students are vital members of their family’s MC. Their involvement can be (but is not limited to) meals, service activities, and MC gatherings. Students will learn that real community is essential, beautiful, and requires hard work.
Sunday Gatherings focus on teaching the story of God to students by diving into the Bible. We adapt Lifeway’s Gospel Project curriculum for Doxa 5/6. Lessons focus on the Bible story and its main point, Big Picture Question, and a key memory passage.
One of the ways parents/guardians can participate in weekly learning is through the LifeWay app; this will allow students and their families to engage with the lesson each week on the go.
