Week Five: The Unexpected Family
Passage: Mark 3:7-35
Summary: People had many reasons for following Jesus or not following him. The crowds who followed Jesus were merely fans. Fans are fickle. They primary are concerned about what they can get for themselves from Jesus. The Herodians, the religious leaders and even Jesus’ own family were foes in this passage because they wanted to control or stop Jesus. Jesus’ true family are those who want what Jesus wants – to do the Father’ will. They’re not in it for themselves. They are most committed to what God wants. What are we? Fans, Foes or Family?
Jesus redefines family.
