Week Ten: The Unexpected Cost

Passage: Mark 6:1-29

Summary: Jesus returned home to find that regardless of how great his teaching is or how mighty his works are people were either offended by him or had no faith in him. He is rejected at home. He then prepares the twelve to also be rejected. Mark ends this section showing us Herod’s rejection and murder of John the Baptist. Jesus is rejected by his peers, the twelve will be rejected on the mission field and in some cases this rejection will lead to death. Many will reject Jesus and his message and as a result fail to experience his power at work in their lives. We need to ask ourselves how we might we be prone to reject Jesus ourselves and at the same time be prepared for others to reject him and us as well.

You will not experience the work of Jesus if you don’t accept the word of Jesus.
