Week Twelve: The Unexpected Problem

April 10, 2016 Preacher: Justin Anderson Series: The Unexpected Jesus - Missing the Messiah

Topic: Gospel Passage: Mark 7:1–7:23

Week 12: The Unexpected Problem

Passage: Mark 7:1-23

Summary:
Empty religion looks to what we do or what has been done to us externally to make us righteous. However, if our hearts are not changed we will never be clean, regardless of what we do. In fact, every evil desire and behavior stems back to hearts that need to be changed. We need something – someone – who can bring about change in the interior of our hearts. Jesus declared all food clean here because he was the fulfillment of the cleanliness laws. Because of him, we can all be declared clean.

It’s not what goes into our stomachs but WHO goes into our hearts.
