Week 13: The Unexpected Approach
Passage: Mark 7:24-37
Summary:
The Syrophoenician Woman knew she was not first in line to receive from Jesus (the Jews were), yet she was also aware that it was only through Jesus that she could get what she needed. She approached Jesus with a humble desperation which is the posture that we all must approach Jesus with. We just come to believe that we are more sinful than we could have ever imagined and more loved in Jesus than we could have ever hoped. Jesus meets her in her humble desperation and goes on to minister to the Deaf man in a way that shows he is willing to humble himself and meet him in a compassionate way according to his need.
Desperate Humility is the prerequisite to receiving Jesus
