Week Fourteen: The Unexpected Sign

April 24, 2016 Preacher: Jeff Vanderstelt Series: The Unexpected Jesus - Missing the Messiah

Topic: Gospel Passage: Mark 8:1–8:26

Week 14: The Unexpected Sign

Passage: Mark 8:1-26

The Pharisees are as blind as the blind man at Bethsaida. They can’t see that Jesus is the sign that came down from heaven, like manna in the desert. It seems his disciples are blinded as well as they still fail to perceive who Jesus is. It would seem that Mark’s retelling of the story, including the healing of the blind man here is a picture of their spiritual blindness. Thankfully, Jesus is willing to continue to help the blind man see even though he doesn’t fully see at first. Eventually, his disciples will see clearly. We are no different as we still have so much more sight to be given. How are we still blind to the truths of Jesus? Ask him for more sight.

Jesus brings more sight to the blind
