Week 15: The Unexpected Cross
Passage: Mark 8:27-9:1
Summary:
Following Peter’s profession that Jesus is the Christ (Anointed One – Messiah), Jesus teaches them that he must suffer and died and rise again. Peter rebukes him and in turn Jesus rebukes Peter for having in his mind the things of man instead of things of God. Jesus then proceeds to explain that all who follow him must take up their cross and loss their life as well if they are going to save their life. The way of man is to seek to save yourself. The way of God is to lose yourself so that God can save you.
